I'm a filmmaker by trade. Both long form documentary and commercial. Though I studied as a photographer, I never took up the practise professionally. Rather dedicating time every few years to undertake another in a series of short projects under the same running umbrella of 'I'm A Stranger Here Too'.
This is the second in a series of 4 projects. Each of which explore a small, tight and unique community, trying to solidify their place in a greater shifting society.
Each project is purposefully undertaken in a short yet extensive period of shooting. Even though heavily researched, the emotive concept is opposite to that of the long form documentary work I make as a filmmaker - in which I would be immersed in a subjects life for a long period. For these projects, I wanted to intentionally try and capture the essence of a community from a strangers perspective - somewhere between an emotive connection and first impression. Both as they wish to be seen and possibly a deeper truth, just underneath the surface.
