Photographers Nicolas Axelrod, Thomas Cristofoletti and Hannah Reyes work together as part of the journalism collective Ruom.
Ruom is a space to showcase regional and international projects undertaken by their members with the aim of giving a voice to global issues that may be underreported by the mainstream media.
Nicolas Axelrod has been based in Southeast Asia since 2008 and is a founding member of Ruom. Before moving to Asia he was living and working in Perth, Western Australia as a Freelance Photographer as well as for a Perth based commercial photography agency.
He has worked for international humanitarian organizations such as UNICEF, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, UNESCO and Handicap International. His work has been published in various local and international publications such as The Guardian, The Independent, Die Welt, The International New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Time Magazine.
Thomas Cristofoletti is an Italian freelance photojournalist and videographer based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and is a founding member of Ruom.
For the past three years, he has worked on multiple humanitarian video and photography projects across Southeast Asia and Europe, collaborating with international NGOs such as UNICEF, UNDP, WWF, AECID, SNV, etc and major media outlets. His photographs have been featured in international magazines and newspapers such as The New York Times, Al Jazeera, The Guardian, Le Monde, Vice, The Financial Times, The Global Post, The South East Asia Globe, Afisha Mir Travel Magazine.
Hannah is a 23 year-old documentary and travel photographer who grew up in the Philippines. She is a National Geographic Young Explorer.
Her work has been published in Nat Geo, Lonely Planet, The New York Times, Time, The Wall Street Journal, and The Guardian, and has been exhibited in Manila, Aalborg, and Copenhagen.
She hopes to tell stories that are engaging and thought provoking.
