My art spans very different subjects: the interaction between man and nature, race relations, gender, 9/11, relational aesthetics and currently I have taken up a new topic titled, "Illusions of the I" as related to portraiture. These themes running through the work are an attempt to stay connected to the world while at the same time extending and going beyond conventional boundaries. My overarching goal has been to connect – to link myself with others, and to help others link themselves with the larger world.
Professionally I taught both at North Carolina State University and at RIT, and worked as a photographer for newspapers, magazines and museums. My art has been shown both domestically and internationally, from the Salon Municipal des Artes in Bolivia to the Lubbock Fine Arts Center in Texas, the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art in North Carolina and the Midwest Museum of Art in Indiana.
