I have been living in Los Angeles for 21 years, working as a photojournalist for a Korean newspaper, capturing the stories of the Korean community through my lens. Though I’ve spent more than two decades in California, each day in LA feels like a new visual journey, offering endless discoveries and perspectives.
To me, LA is like an archipelago—a collection of ideological, cultural, racial, and linguistic islands. With my camera in hand, I drift between these islands, exploring their unique landscapes and stories. As an observer and a wanderer, I embrace my life as an outsider in this sprawling city. For me, being a photographer in LA is not just about capturing moments—it's about finding joy in the unfamiliar and celebrating the vibrant, fragmented beauty of this diverse metropolis.
