When I was 13, I was given an assignment in school to plan the rest of my life— a reasonable request. I knew one thing: I loved photography. I Google searched "Careers in photography" and found photojournalism, then “Colleges with photojournalism major” and found Boston University.
Eight years later, I am in my senior year at BU working towards a degree in photojournalism. Since embarking on this whacky career I've had the pleasure of following my photos travel around the world on the Associated Press wire, watching my videos gather millions of views on Facebook and waking up eight times to my photo on A1 of The Oregonian.
My goal is to make a career out of shooting stories of international interest, but then again stories about hot air balloonists and drag queens make me glad I made the choice to be a photojournalist.
