I received my first analogue SLR (a Canon EOS 500) when I was around fourteen or fifteen, however, my father gave me my very first camera (a purple, pink and green point-and-shoot) for my tenth birthday. So taking pictures has been my passion for quite some time – although it has waxed and waned over the years…
…which is why when it came to choose a university degree, I went for something completely different: I studied French and Political Science in London. But photography stayed with me throughout my studies.
It’s a cliché, but Berlin inspired me to want to take up a creative sidehustle, so I first started taking guitar lessons but soon found that I lacked talent, so I went back to my old hobby of photography. In 2016/17 and 2017/18, I participated in a seminar on portrait photography at the Ostkreuzschule (also in Berlin) with Sibylle Fendt, where I developed the project I am submitting today.
