Sergio Marcelli was born in Ancona in 1971.
A lover of the visual arts, he approached photography at a very young age and then - after graduating from high school - took a course in visual design.
Twenty-six years old, he began his career as a teacher, first for a film school promoted by the Mediateca delle Marche, then as a photography teacher at the Poliarte Academy in Ancona, where he remained until 2017.
In 2000, he moved to Berlin for a few years. In 2004, he made his first short film, which he presented in 2007 at the Miden Festival in Greece.
In 2016 he published the Trattato fondamentale di fotografia (Fundamental Treatise on Photography) for Hoepli Editore, a manual enthusiastically received by the public and adopted by several photography schools.
His research work was presented at the IX Edition of Fotografia - Festival internazionale di Roma (2010) and in various Italian and European cities through solo and group exhibitions. One of his works is part of the collection of the Museum of Information in Senigallia. The photographic project ItAliens was awarded the Honorable Mention in the Series section of the Monovision Photography Awards 2021.
