About Shandylinn DeVita

I am a multidisciplinary artist and photographer who is active in the creative arts. Graduating from the University of Central Missouri in the early 2000s; I have been honing my photography skills for the past 20 years.

I am is a Missouri native, born and raised around Kansas City. My photographic interests were shaped by my grandfather and his friend. As a kid loved looking at landscape photography and feeling like I had been transported to other locations. Taking an interest in photography, I received my first point-and-shoot camera. My images were a mix of subjects over those early years but University is where I acquired the knowledge. Learning photography was not just how to compose an image, but how to process a negative or digital image. With all of the advancements in computer software, you cannot post-process a photograph to become a fine piece of art. Some skills are required and practice is needed to hone those skills.

In the early 2000s, life took a turn for my family and I gave up photography as a lifestyle and career. But I never let my camera go, I continued to do portraits and weddings as I could. Over the years our family has moved several times all over the US. This change in scenery added to the outlook on the different views of art and artistic expression. My ongoing work explores the beauty of our world and that which resides in it, focusing more on fine art photography.
