My name is Shawn Charles, 29 years old from Brooklyn, New York. I was raised by Caribbean parents; since I was young, I have always liked expression through art. I would try to draw my ideas, but I was never fully satisfied with my stick figures. My father’s old hobby as a freelance photographer exposed me to photography. When I decided to take on this creative journey of photography, I used the money I had saved for a PlayStation 4 and bought my first camera with no regrets.
I focus on portrait photography that tells complex stories, because humans are complex. The world looks different and more interesting in all its complexities when one is thinking in the mindset of a photographer.
I recently moved to Groton, Connecticut where I work as an engineer. On my free time I am continuing to pursue my passion as an artist.
