Sofie Flinth (1996, Denmark) is based in Copenhagen and has graduated with
a BFA in photography at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie (Amsterdam, The Netherlands).
Through portrait photography, Flinth explores themes such as nostalgia, vanity and the perception of reality. The photographs are suggestive scenarios centred around a character; herself or females close to her.
How far does reality last before it turns into fiction?
Having grown up with reality and entertainment TV that is based on a cast of “normal” people who are acting “natural”, Flinth explores manipulated imagery and storytelling.
The women close to her and herself are portrayed in a scenario that she creates. By asking the women to wear their own clothes with fake hair, merging a natural environment with artificial light, Flinth stages her surroundings and explores to what extend the image portrays reality.
