German photographer Stefan Enders studied painting at the Düsseldorf Academy of Art before turning to photography. He was fascinated by the immediate encounter with real situations which he experienced as a photographer. Enders worked for international magazines for over 20 years, and was awarded several prizes for his work. Since 2005 he has been a professor of photography at Mainz University. "Far from Brussels" is a very personal project for him: "I embarked on a personal quest with my camera, a photographic enquiry into my own Europe".
