My name is Tatum Kempers, born in 1976, living and working in Silvolde, the Netherlands. I graduated at the school of photography ( Breda, Netherlands) in 2014. I’m a multi-disciplinary artist working in the field of experimental photography. I work fairly solitary and do not always have a model available, so I started to take a few self-portraits and it became a way to express myself. I use digital techniques, as well as paint and different light sources to create the effects and ideas that I have. Long exposure photography is one of these techniques that fascinates me since I have started practicing photography. I try to create a new image that goes beyond a normal portrait. The proces of photography for me, is like a diary. My autobiographical pieces explore my inner conflicts. I start working and let it evolve. I experience, test and try, guided by my feelings and emotions. I am by nature an enthusiastic but shy person and not keen on beiing in the spotlight. Through my work as a social worker I became fascinated in how people see you and how quickly we judge each other. With my pictures I try to look at myself in a different way and express how I feel about myself and how others might look at me. I try to push my bounderies. There is more than meets the eye.
I also make video's for bands and art-installation in which I use photography, painting, video, animation and performance art.
