Tawna Brown is an internationally published travel photographer and writer based in her hometown of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, in the Canadian sub-arctic.
A self-taught photographer, Tawna’s primary focus is on fine art and editorial/travel photography. Her photos tell a story; they transport you to places you’ve never been before, and places you’ve dreamed of; they also bring you back somewhere familiar, to places close to your heart.
No matter where I go, my eyes are always wide open and alert, receptive to the emotions and messages embedded in everything around me. Everything has a story and everything has meaning.
I am both receiver and transmitter. I receive the messages, emotions, and stories from my surroundings, and after interpreting them (through the creative post-processing phase), I transmit my own version and vision of the message through my photographs. This is why I love photography; it is such a powerful, creative and emotive form of communication.
