Tian Jin, photographer, was born in China. He has studied in France since 2011 and lives in both France and China.
His photographic practice has long been concerned with marginalized groups in the society and is devoted to exploring the relations between social issues such as poverty, urbanization, new immigrants and special ethnic groups.
In 2014, a private photography project on Chinese folk orphanages started to be produced. It spanned more than a dozen counties and cities and villages in several provinces in China. The project systematically recorded the unofficial abandonment mechanism adopted by Chinese private citizens. and the living conditions of abandoned children. At present, the first part of the project named “Northern Orphanage” has been completed. The other two parts named the “Border Orphanage” and “Fantasy Orphanage” are being prepared.
