Born in 1951, I spent my first ten years in Seattle, Washington, growing up in and around my grandfather’s amusement park. In 1961 my family and I moved to Berkeley, California where, in 1979 I opened and operated Tobin Fraley Studios, a national known carousel restoration shop. I am the author of three books on the history of Carousels, including The Carousel Animal, published by Zephyr Press, 1983, The American Carousel, Chronicle Books, 1994 and Carousel Animals, Artistry in Motion, Chronicle Books, 2003. I currently teach photography at the Chicago Botanic Garden and work with museums on carousel projects
