I am a San Francisco based travel, landscape and Burning Man photographer. I take photographs because I like to document my explorations of the world, because photography forces me to concentrate, focus, and live in the moment, and because I hope every once in a while to create something of lasting beauty.
I took up photography when I quit my job as a systems engineer to travel around the world for eighteen months. During my travels, I was surprised to find that many of my most intense memories and experiences were when I was behind the lens. When I returned to the US, I began studying photography more formally, mostly by reading, by attending field workshops, and by having my images critiqued by experienced professionals.
As a graduate student at UC Berkeley, I won the university's top photography prize two years in a row. More recently, I’ve won awards in the 2017 PDN World in Focus and Great Outdoors contests, the 2017 Travel Photographer of the Year contest, and other internation
