My first recognition as a photographer goes back to my time as an exchange student in Britain in the 1960s. I was the winner of a First Prize and an Award of Merit at the 75th Anniversary Exhibition of the Brighton & Hove Camera Club in 1967. Although I have published in the intervening years several award-winning books on German cinema and film theory, I have never lost interest in the art of photography. I am happy to be the recipient of an Honorable Mention of the 2021 Mono-Kromatik exhibition at the Praxis Gallery in Minneapolis. My present interests lie in conceptual and experimental photography, cameraless photography, and avant-garde photography’s relations to literature and painting.
