Zhang Wei was born in Zhejiang Province, China in 1971. Graduated from the Journalism Department of Wuhan University, he joined China News Service as a photojournalist from July 1994, and worked as a Los Angeles correspondent of China News Service from January 2008 to July 2011.He has been working as the chief photojournalist in China News Service Hong Kong Branch since 2018. Zhangwei is mainly engaged in report photography and documentary photography, focusing on the poor and vulnerable groups. In 2019, he mainly focused on the Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill Disturbance in Hong Kong.
