About Wenhan Hu

Wenhan Hu (b. 2001, Hangzhou, China) is a visual artist currently pursuing an MFA in Photography at Rhode Island School of Design. He received his dual bachelor’s degrees(BS & BE) in Mechanics and Civil Engineering System from Tsinghua University, Beijing. He is a recipient of 2026 Henry Wolf Scholarship of Rhode Island School of Design.

Growing up within the digital vortex, his practice interrogates the contemporary “distorted mirror stage,” where the mediated self is perpetually constructed under external gazes. Through photography, spatial collage, and digital intervention, Hu constructs fragmented fields of vision that explore the alienation, labor, and glitches inherent in the formation of the digital body. His work serves as both a critical apparatus and a speculative model, probing the politics of visibility and the aesthetics of rupture in an image-saturated world.
