Jean-Christophe Yacono (yako) has developed his digital and photography practice across numerous artistic projects. His work has been presented at the International Digital Art Biennial (BIAN), the International Art Film Festival (FIFA), Festival of New Cinema (FNC), at Cirque du Soleil, the ArTV Studio of Place des Arts, La Centrale Powerhouse gallery in Montreal and the Centre Pompidou in Paris, among others.
Since 1993, Yako has been interested in new forms of digital writing for screens and public spaces. Using photographic exploration of “new interactive realities”, and “scene stopping”, he began a reflection on gesture, either inherent or choreographed, that is apparent in everyday human mobility, experience, and performance, recording its forms on the image and how its sequences, blurs and motions imprint when captured.
In Media Arts, yako has developed his practice through projects like the public dance performance WONDERLAND (2008), immersive theatre and live audiovisual creation, the interactive installation MUSICBOX 2 (2009) presented at the BIAN, as well as the creation of interactive video devices and short-film formats like NOIRCEUR (2020) and FEAR IN MOTION (2019), screened at the Imperial Theatre as part of FIFA 38 and selected for numerous festivals.
