Born in Wales Yas Crawford aspires to Pembrokeshire as a place where the arts, it's geological landscape and biological make-up have it seems, subliminally seeped into her being and heavily influence her work. Yas works in the 'Grey Space' between art and science having worked as both a scientist and a photographic artist which adds a cohesiveness and curiosity to her image-making. Working collaboratively with research institutions or simply producing my own projects often reveals layers of research combined with the landscape.
Yas has won various awards including Science Photographer of the Year 2019 and more recently Highly Commended 15th Pollux Awards, for Alternative Processes. 2020. Her upcoming exhibitions include 'Blood, Cells & Neurons' Brick Lane Gallery. 10-24 Nov. 2020 and 'The Man and The Machine'. Rome. 10-18 Nov. 2020.
