Ying-Chih Chuang lives and works in Taipei City, Taiwan. From 2012 to 2016, she photoed private interior spaces at Ximending, a community situated in the west side of Taipei City. This photo project, “A Topographical Tale of Ximending”, emphasizes the emotion and atmosphere in the private spaces belonged to different groups. This work won the 2012 New Photographer’s Award (Epson Award) funded by Taiwan International Visual Arts Center and earned an honorary mention in the 2016 Kaohsiung Award competition. In 2017, she won a special jury award in the Photo Eye portfolio review in the Young Art Taipei Contemporary Art Fair. “A Topographical Tale of Ximending” was also shortlisted for the 2017 Belfast Photo Festival. Her works were exhibited in different museums and art fairs in Taiwan and were collected by the Taiwan International Visual Arts Center.
