About Young June Kim

After graduating from Hongik University in Seoul, where I specialized in sculpture, I obtained a DNAP in Fine Arts from the École européenne supérieure d’art de Bretagne (Rennes, France). I later completed both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Photography and Contemporary Art at the University of Paris 8, specializing in “A Photographic Aesthetics of Sculpture,” under the supervision of Michelle Debat and Arno Gisinger.

I was one of the laureates of the “MH Talent Portfolio (Korean Emerging Artist) 2024/2025” at the Museum of Photography, Seoul (MoPS), Museum Hanmi. I was shortlisted for the LensCulture Black & White Photography Awards 2023 (single-image category). I was a finalist for the QPN Prize at La Quinzaine Photographique Nantaise, Nantes, in 2022 and 2019. In 2016, I was among the eleven shortlisted artists selected by Diane Dufour, director of LE BAL, for the HSBC Prize for Photography, and I was also shortlisted for Bourse du Talent #68.

My series Retour au Paradis was selected for the 2026 program of the Les Photographiques Festival (38th edition). My series Des Arbres et Des Hommes was exhibited at L’Événement Photographique, a biennial of contemporary photography in Nancy, France, as well as in Nantes and Strasbourg, and is part of the permanent collection of Madeleine Millot-Durrenberger.
