Zaki Habibi is a researcher in the field of media studies and visual culture, also a passionate documentary photographer who incorporate photography as one of his research approaches. He was born in Indonesia, educated in Indonesia and Australia, then he has been living in Sweden since 2016 to pursue his doctoral degree.
Zaki's research deals with the notion of urban living in the city, and they have been published in both popular and academic publications, as well as presented in seminar series and collective exhibitions. "Abandoned and Beyond" (2015) is one of his projects that elaborates the tension between urban development and abandoned spaces in Yogyakarta, a rapid developing city in Java island, Indonesia. This project was showcased in CommArt 2015, a collective exhibition in the country. His current project explores the everyday urban creativity in Indonesian and Malaysian cities.
