Originally, a self- taught photographer who grew up in the presence of photography, I re-discovered it whilst photographing museum collections to enable staff to find artefacts in storage more easily. This then led onto discovering the joys of black and white film photography and of processing my own films.
Eventually, this led onto completing a Foundation diploma in Art & Design specialising in Fine Art whilst still engaging with the artistic discipline of photography in order to create records of artwork I created. Whilst doing this, a liking for collaborating with other artists appeared and of documenting the creation of their artwork for them using digital photography.
Subsequently, a place was gained on an MA in Art, Media & Design where photography was once again major force in creating artwork, yet this time round something new emerged. Apart from still enjoying collaboration and documentary photography, a discovery was made that it's possible to create a dialogue between photographic artwork and printmaking certain elements from photographs which then is intended to engage the viewer in a playful game of compare and contrast.
Moreover, I've discovered a love of photographing performance art and protest, plus a photojournalistic element documenting everyday life emerging too, and have successfully been selling my documentary photography of graffiti in varying countries as postcards. Other artwork has also been very frequently selling online and I've been exploring an ability to draw and paint too.
Very willing to be both a solitary practitioner as well as being a photographer, who collaborates with other artists and photographers and would really relish the opportunity to also undertake photography which has a philanthropic side too and makes a difference in the world. Whilst gaining experience of doing event photography, street photography and photography for business websites, a great enthusiasm and fascination with photography is still very much intact and part of my life and my creativity.
