Photo-London 2007: Contemporary Photography Only

In its 37th year as an international photography fair, Photo-London is upping the ante by refusing to allow anyone to show work made before 1970. This should be a refreshing change from the walls of over-priced vintage works that we've all seen before. And, even better, there should be some great new stuff to discover.
We've selected 30 preview images to give you a taste of what will be on display May 31-June 3, 2007. You can view them as a large-format flash slideshow OR as an elegant Lens Culture photo gallery.
Your comments will be appreciated: about the photographs, as well as which viewing format you prefer.

definitely prefer the large-format slideshow (although it was a tad too large, had to scroll down to get the caption — and what’s up with the few no caption images?)….the images in the LC photo gallery are just too small for my liking (oops, should have said that on your questionnaire). As for the photos, very uninspiring for the most part. Perhaps there’s a reason why fairs include the vintage stuff? (And really, isn’t an Eggleston from 1971 vintage? You can’t help but feel that photo is included on a technicality). Disclosure: 99% of what is being done these days leaves me cold.

Thanks for comments, and thanks also very much for taking the reader survey, too!
I’ve added the two missing photo captions (late night learning curve with the new program). And with the next few new galleries, I’ll try to find the largest right size for the slide show screen.
Regarding the images, I have to agree that only a handful of this selection make me want to dig deeper. However, these are from the images provided to the press in advance of the show (ie., ready for the mainstream?), and my hope is that there will be many more memorable images to discover in person. Call me an optimist.
