Margarida Paiva (1975, Portugal) is a visual artist living in Oslo working with film and photography. In 2007, she completed her Master degree at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, and has earlier studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Porto. Recent exhibitions include Muratcentoventidue Contemporary Art Gallery, Bari (IT), Centre Photographique d'Ile-de-France, Pontault-Combault (FR), and Fotografiens Hus, Oslo (NO).
Recent work is a personal exploration into the mystical side of the natural world. It draws inspiration from folklore, fairy tales, and ancient myths. Each photograph is a visual narrative that speaks in symbols, using the language of the subconscious—ritual, nature, transformation, and mystery.
