About Ana Santana

Ana Santana is an emerging photographer originally from Spain. She is based in The Netherlands since 2005 after finishing her MSc in Psychology Research at the Universiteit van Amsterdam.

Her photographs tell the story of her own life, revolving around escapism, liberation and the quest for home.
She creates in the void between her and the other, a place where she is connected with everything and everyone, a place where spacetime somehow disappears.

In 2015 Ana was selected as one of the best Dutch emerging photographers by Gup magazine and featured in the book NEW 2016 which is available in museums and bookstores worldwide.

Her work has also been featured in both the European and International editions of the book FRESH EYES Talent and the Japanese monography Anarchy º1 dedicated to black and white photography from around the globe.

Ana's work has been exhibited at Crea Cantieri dei Contemporaneo (Venice, IT) Head On Photo Festival (AU), Ephemere. (JP), Haute Photographie (NL), Les Rencontres D'Arles (FR), Photo Basel (SW), Tbilisi Photo Festival (Georgia), Rotterdam Photo (NL), Art and Photo Kortrijk (BE), OT301 (NL), Art Hotel (NL), The Glasgow Gallery of Photography (UK) and the Laurenskerk (NL).​​​
