Andrea Wilmsen was born near Düsseldorf, Germany. After studying Sociology, she worked for several years in the field of public relations, before she decided in 2008 to dedicate herself completely to photography. In 2017, she gained a scholarship at the University of Fine Arts in Salzburg, Austria, and studied with renowned photographers like Valerie Jouve and Andrea Grützner. Travelling is an important source of inspiration for her. She journeyed extensively through Europe, Australia, New Zealand and North America. Based in Berlin she is currently frequently moving between Berlin and Barcelona, Spain. Details of the everyday, the hidden and the overlooked are topics of her work. Structure and minimalism are recurring elements. Her work has been shown internationally in solo and group exhibitions and was featured in art and architecture magazines.
