Sofie Amalie Klougart was one of the 50 best emerging photographers for 2015, as voted by the jury for the LensCulture Emerging Talent Awards 2015.

In the Italian costal town of Pozzallo refugees and migrants experience their first meeting with Europe. Here they are locked up in the city’s reception center, a “temporary” institution. The building is supposed to hold immigrants for a maximum of three days—but since the Italian migration system has broken down, many of these refugees have been detained for more than 13 days.
