Many of the pictures I make begin as an elegy or lamentation, the beginning of a conversation about the ephemeral nature of our existence and the fragility of the people and things around us. I’m interested in light, space, and movement, and the beauty and grace hidden in quiet places.
I want my pictures to breathe. Each picture should be strong enough to stand on its own and carry the weight of the moment, creating its own environment and telling its own story. I print my own images, completing the arc of the process and staying close to the pictures from beginning to end. I want to express the regenerative nature of our lives, and the art and beauty that can spring forth from humility and appreciation.
