About Barbara Wheeler

I practised as a lawyer for many years but am now retired so have more time to pursue my passion for photography. My early teens saw me experimenting with a film Leica on loan from an uncle who was a professional photographer and which I used to take photographs of the beautiful countryside in my home county of Oxfordshire. During this time I started to experiment with depth of field and shutter speeds to capture atmosphere and movement in my photos.
I tend to approach my photography with an open mind and often don’t have a predetermined idea of what I am going to shoot. For me photography can be seeing something in the often overlooked and mundane everyday things and places and taking the shot from an unusual angle. I enjoy capturing a diverse range of images from still life to landscape, street scenes to long exposure photography and images using Intentional Camera Movement. It all depends on my mood at the time.
