Bart Verraest is currently working on several film projects as a film colorist across Europe. Early on he took a strong interest in visual arts which he expressed as a photographer, graphic designer, video and visual effects artist. His passion for cinema brought him to the world of film making. In 2005 he studied the art of cinematography in Munich under the guidance of international lighting directors and cinematographers. He has since worked on over 160 films, documentaries and tv series shaping the visual mood for film directors, artists and cinematographers around the world. Among them filmmakers such as Brian De Palma, Jose Luis Alcaine and Vittorio Storaro and photographers like Erwin Olaf, Newsha Tavakolian, Rineke Dijkstra and Dana Lixenberg. Bart recently also began writing screenplays for feature films. His latest screenplay for the film “Relapse” was well received and honoured for its unique voice and use of strong visuals to tell the story. Photography has always been a way to express a more personal and subtle view of the world. "There is an overwhelming thrill in seeing that one "moment" you are looking for through the lens of your camera. When everything comes together you merge with the thing you photograph and you know that the audience will be able to experience it afterwards. Nothing compares to it."
