Initially inspired by his father's demonstrated love for and dedication to photography on their hikes through the mountains of North Carolina and Virginia, Benjamin Erlandson has been practicing photography since he was a child. While attending college at UNC-Asheville, he made the switch from film to digital during the early days of the technology, receiving formal training in aesthetics and composition. In the many years since his interests in photography have centered upon capturing the natural light of landscapes across many scales.
Ben is a native of Elkin, North Carolina, and has lived and traveled in many parts of North America and other continents. He has now returned to the mountains of North Carolina and continuously broadens his perspective through the lens, always exploring connections between art and science, beauty and complexity.
