If I am to write a short sketch of my life, it is best to say that I was born in 1981 in Kolkata, India; studied from a private Christian missionary school; got a degree in Economics and then went to the U.K. for 3 years to study photography. However, that only qualifies as information pertaining to my external aspects and it will not give any insight into who I am, hence it is in a way redundant. Many in this world have done all of the above, and nothing sets me apart from them. Truly, nothing does.
Then, if I am to contemplate as to what should be said about me, I think nothing truly qualifies. For I think no words can describe my nature in totality, and no human I believe can be quantified into a set of parameters which only give away his/her achievements or belief systems and does not describe in neutrality his/her nature, and that too I believe falls short of that person’s description. For knowledge regarding a person only comes alive when interactions become personal, and then no demon remains a demon, and no angel remains an angel.
Then resurrection is in knowledge and the sweet admiration of the depths of another’s glory and frailty. The no soul remains an apparition, where stepping out of one’s ego has raised one’s identity to a person from a parameter.
Here I am now perhaps a photographer, a poet, a dreamer, a student, a son, a soul encased in countless mistakes and many potentials and errors yet to come. Then who am I? If I contemplate, perhaps not an apparition.
