This book is about the daily life in small circuses. A kind of parallel community where animals belong to the family. A series about living together in a traveling company and hidden feelings. In my photos I try to capture the moments that are not part of the show. The instants they think nobody is watching them anymore. Wild animals have been banned in the circus since 2015. Only domesticated species are permitted. Camels, buffalos, lamas and classic pet animals such as dogs, horses, goats, chickens and geese may still be kept in circuses, on the condition that the animal enclosures meet the legal standards.
