Aperture 98 Spring Western Spaces (Aperture Magazine)

This outstanding issue of Aperture centers on new work by several noted western landscape photographers. Included are black-and-white photographs by Lawrence McFarland, Robert Adams, Frank Gohlke, Mark Klett, William Clift, and Emmet Gowin; and color images by Richard Misrach, Art Sinsabaugh, Terry Husebye, and David Hockney. Lewis Baltz reviews Edward Weston: California Landscapes and Robert Adams writes on nineteenth-century photographs of the American landscape. Certainly this is one of the best issues of Aperture in recent years.
