Armed with an 8x10 Sinar camera and an arsenal of lenses, Reinhart Wolf set off to capture the essence of the most magnificent castles in Spain. Well-known for his previous large format book New York, Wolf has again produced a spectacle of imagery. In 1983 he was honored with two gold medals from the German Art Directors Club for the photographs featured here. The text by Goitia, a highly respected Spanish architectural historian, presents that country's history of castle-building along with specific information pertaining to the castles illustrated.
