Flash Forward is The Magenta Foundation’s annual emerging photographers competition. Now in its fifth year, this compelling look at emerging talent from three countries brings to light the work of an exceptional group of photographers.
Artists from Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom are invited to submit their work. The jury is composed of top industry professionals. This year’s jurors are: Daniel Espeset, photo-eye Magazine; Liz Ikiriko, photo editor at Toronto Life magazine; Sara Knelman, Art Gallery of Hamilton; Simon Bainbridge, British Journal of Photography; Paul Herrmann, Redeye—the Photography Network; Rebecca McClelland, photo editor at Wallpaper, Art World, and the Ian Parry Scholarship; Darren Ching, Photo District News; Debra Klomp Ching, Klompching Gallery of New York; and Paula Tognarelli, Griffin Museum of Photography.
Flash Forward showcases the future of photography, focusing on emerging talent that jurors have identified as having great potential. This small volume is essential for curators, collectors, advertising professionals, and artists who wish to stay fully informed about up-and-coming photographers. This year, we will also follow up with ten past Flash Forward winners from each country to see how the competition has helped them and to get a look at the projects they are working on.
