Andy Warhol Nudes

A collection of drawings, photographs, and paintings, this book is a collection of Warhol's little-known representations of nudes. His drawings, reminiscent of Matisse and Cocteau, possess a clarity of line which is translated later into his photographic compositions. Warhol used the Polaroid Big Shot camera extensively for these works, a tool which lent itself very well to the close-up techniques he employed. None of these nudes are full-figure; always cropped somehow, giving visual expression to Warhol's statement: "You can get closer to your subject, one piece at a time."
