Rene Machler

Am Nullpunkt der Fotografie / At the Zero Point of Photography: Photographs and Photograms 1952-2004 (German and English Edition)
by Gottfried Jager
Publisher's Description
Concrete photography is a new category within Concrete art and appears alongside other modes of artistic expression, such as Concrete painting, music and poetry. Although it is a subsection of photography, it is a discipline that to date does not contain a conclusive theory or comprehensive documentation. Despite this, autonomous images of the movement that emerged in the early 20th century remain influential today. One of the most celebrated Concrete photographs is Swiss artist Rene Machler. Featured photograms from the mid-1960s through the 1990s. Usually known to explore the basic elements of classic black and white photography, Machler also incorporates current technologies such as video and digital images in his rigorous pictorial investigation.
