As long as I can remember my life has been driven by curiosity. After a rewarding scientific career my curiosity has found a new direction in the art of photography.
Inspired by painters like Mondriaan, Klee and Miró I am intrigued by the way the human brain evaluates and interprets the visual world. We recognize shape, depth and texture by shades of tone and color. Nevertheless, the subject as we ‘see’ it is no more than an interpretation of reality based upon a lifelong personal learning process.
By manipulating light and shadow we leave this ‘truth’ behind and we enter a new, otherwise hidden, private world. The image transcends the subject.
