About Carlo Milani

Carlo Milani explores the concept of landscape in a nostalgic, poetic way.
His pictures are often classified as “romantic” cause seem to embody some of the ideas that inspired 19th-century artists: the sacred value of Nature compared to the noisy urban scene; the desire to discover humble shelters in a globalized world; an obsessive search for beauty as a path towards truth.
Inspired by Turner's and Constable's Romanticism, he proposes an intimate look at the landscape: rather than presenting reality, his works establish a link between the reality of the present and the scene imagined by the photographer. The use of textures wants to strip the bite of the shot, to allow the beholder to enter an ideal scene, without however betraying the authenticity of the location.
