About Carol Sharp

Carol Sharp is primarily a visual artist with a degree in visual communications and a successful 30 year career in photography. Revealing in her plant portraits what Geothe called their ‘gesture’ prompted a study of new science and philosophy concerning plant agency and questioning our entrenched colonial attitude to nature. Gradually exploring conceptual ideas around this study has resulted in a fine art practice, which has given rise to her deep connection with the plant world.
She now finds herself rewilding alongside the 350 trees she planted 25 years ago in rural Norfolk. She lives creatively and sustainably, collaborating with the land, documenting the processes through writing and visual pieces. As more evidence unfolds about plant intelligence and their ability to connect with each other and with the wider world, she pushes boundaries to find ways to connect us to the inner world of plants and challenges our relationship with them.
