About Celil Kırnapcı

Celil Kırnapcı was born in 1986 in Zonguldak, Turkey. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Radio, TV and Cinema from Marmara University. In 2008, he started to work in the press as a photographer. He has been a press photographer till 2014. Meanwhile he focused on documentary photography. He joined the workshops of Eric Bouvet, Sebastián Liste, Gael Turine, Massimo Mastrorillo, Martina Hoogland Ivanov, and Samuel Bollendorff. He received third prize in photography from the Lions Clubs International in Turkey in 2010, and jury award of merit from Grand Prix de la Decouverte (International Fine Art Photography) in 2012. He had a chance to discover his language of photography with Mark Steinmetz in ISSP in Latvia. His works were exhibited internationally in numerous shows and festivals including Kuldiga Art House, Istanbul FotoFest and Bursa FotoFest. He has won the 2nd place in the Photo Story category, 3rd place in Nature, and 3rd place in Daily Life in Turkish Press Photo Awards 2015. He was deemed worthy of arts achievement award from Istanbul Rotary Club in 2016, and his works were exhibited in the Elgiz Museum. Celil Kırnapcı lives and works in Istanbul.
