About claire gordon

Claire Gordon, Photographer & Narrator

I live in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand, with my husband and sons. My fascination with photography began as a young girl, and I was always the one with the camera in hand. My career that took me from a youngster to my late 40’s, was a journey into the financial world, and it wasn’t until I emigrated to New Zealand in 2007 that I was able to begin to consider photography as an alternate career choice.
Here, I have spent 11 years in the two roles of Photographer and Mental Health counsellor, and I believe the ‘people’ empathy gained through my mental health role reflects in my photography.Putting the financial world behind me has also enabled me to move into that creative space where I have been able to grow my photography skills - spending years hearing people’s stories has created a natural transition into the story-telling which has become central to my photography - after all isn’t that the point? Every picture tells a story.
