Margaret McNamara Education Grants 40th Anniversary Photo Competition

Winners will be announced in October 2021

At Margaret McNamara Education Grants (MMEG), we believe in the power of one woman. Our goal is to find and support exceptional, driven women who, through their education and their actions, will impact hundreds of others. In MMEG’s 40 years of existence we have awarded grants to 465 women from more than 75 developing countries all around the world.

Throughout 2021, we are celebrating our 40th year milestone with monthly events featuring grantee, volunteer and supporter participation.
As part of the celebration events MMEG, with the support of The International Photographic Society at the IMF - World Bank and the Focus on the Story International Photo Festival, are running this photographic competition on the topic: “Women build a better world” will allow people from all over the world to share with us their vision on this topic.

MMEG is seeking entries in two categories:

  • Best Single Image: MMEG will award 500 USD to one photographer for a single image that best represents the topic of the competition: “Women build a better world.” First runner-up will receive 300 USD. Second runner-up will be awarded 100 USD.
  • Best Series: MMEG will award 500 USD to one photographer for three-to-five related images that best represents the topic of the competition: “Women build a betterworld”. First runner-up will receive 300 USD. Second runner-up will be awarded 100 USD.

Single Photo Category

Submit your most powerful shots to be judged individually. Images submitted must work independently and do not need to belong to a portfolio or to a whole body of work. It is possible to participate by submitting one single photo. Up to 5 images can be submitted.

Photo Series Category

Submit up to 5 images that work well together as a set or that are part of a thematic portfolio. Edit your selection carefully, because it will be judged on the strength of the set of images as a whole. If you have multiple series of images you would like to enter, please create a separate entry for each series.
