Dan Plunkett holds a BFA from East Tennessee State University, an MFA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a naturalist, a documentary photographer, and a former advisor to CEOs. He was raised down the bayous of southern Louisiana. His previous book, Southerly, is a documentary of that upbringing in the South.
Ellen Plunkett is a microbiologist who spent her childhood roaming the Hill Country of Texas. She co-founded the Doris Wilderness Foundation (doriswilderness.org), a rainforest preserve in central Belize, with her husband, Dan. Ellen divides her time between Central America and the high desert wilderness of northern New Mexico where she lives in a solar-powered, net-energy-exporting home. She holds a BA in biology from University of Texas at Austin and a BS in Medical Technology from The University of Texas Medical Branch.
