Dan is a photographer who primarily documents life on black and white film and uses the natural light [of his subjects] to illuminate the beauty embedded within his exposures.
Dan pursues "the unexpected aesthetic" his term for the natural expression of beauty that is not manufactured or planned, rather latent and waiting to be encountered and manifest. The aesthetic is the beauty that exists in the tension or movement of an individual in relation to their authentic, inner self.
This beauty exists in the details of everyday life, always present, but often overlooked.
