Gilpin is a contemporary artist whose practice spans photography, painting, and printmaking, with a particular focus on redefining the nude as a modern art form. In less than two years he has received 42 international awards and distinctions, including recognition in New York, California, and across Europe, such as a Platinum Award at the Muse Photography Awards 2025, multiple honours at the London Photography Awards, and accolades from IPA Awards, TIFA, Chromatic and Fine Art Photography Awards.
His work is recognised for stripping away convention and presenting the body with a raw, unpolished directness. Working instinctively with natural light, shadow, and colour, Gilpin creates images that are both experimental and disciplined. This approach is grounded in his art school training and early mentorship in croquis studies, which gave him a strong foundation in the human form — a discipline that continues to underpin his photographic practice today.
Marked by emotional clarity, bold contrasts, and a resistance to digital manipulation, each piece retains an authenticity and presence of its own. He produces only limited series, often a single print and an artist’s proof, ensuring each work remains singular.
